Joking aside, I wish I would have seen this post sooner – I have been contemplating the same sense of complacency and found insight from the books “Flow” and “Creativity” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. My primary take away was practicing the ability to create games surrounding tasks without a definite or immediate impact on convenience, wealth, ego, etc. The “marbles” sound like a good way to place a metric behind the activities of each day and encourage more intentional use of your time.
