So today was the day. I grew up watching Dan tear defenses apart. Favre was never as prolific in a single season, but the guy was consistent his entire career. He also has a ring, which my childhood hero never earned.
Most importantly, he’s a great guy - loves his family, loves to play the game, cares more about helping the team win than the records. It makes me kind of sad that I had drilled it into my head that Marino was the best QB ever, because I spent most of the last decade missing out on the joy of watching this guy play, missed out on appreciating him for what he was instead of comparing him. Manning will break most of these records in the next few years, but he’ll never be Brett Favre.
