Sean Johnson - Intentionally - The Education of Sean Johnson

So two nights ago I watched the Republican debate online, and this is what I saw:

  • They didn’t ask Ron Paul a question for the first 40 minutes of a 90 minute debate.
  • Every time he was asked a question, they had someone’s mic on (couldn’t tell if it was Guliani or someone else) so you could hear laughter over Ron Paul talking.
  • During his comments on our entering Iraq illegally (i.e. without a formal declaration of war) you heard a mix of loud cheers and some booing. Turns out the audience was booing because they put Guliani’s smug reaction on the screen.
  • In replaying the debate after, they showed the clip where Paul and Huckabee get into it. However, they cut off Paul’s last, most powerful statement to make it look like Huckabee had the last word.
  • Paul still won the debate according to the cell phone poll, but Sean Hannity said that it was Ron Paul “spammers” dialing in multiple times. A blatant lie, since you couldn’t vote multiple times from the same phone.

I really hate talking about it because it makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist. But the guy has won or placed in the top three in almost every straw poll and is consistently the most compelling, lucid, historically sound debater on stage. Chalking all this up to chance or coincidence is proving more difficult by the day.
